Quantum Of Solace is a Sony PlayStation 3 Action Shooter game, written by Activision.

Guide to Quantum Of Solace on the PlayStation 3

James Bond Quantum of Solace resurrects the hit Bond franchise and is now heading to the PlayStation 3 courtesy of Treyarch. This first-person shooter has got a few tricks up on its sleeve that will certainly change the face of the Bond game. James Bond Quantum of Solace features a more stealth approach this time out, thanks much to the development job of the folks at Treyarch and a few of its gameplay elements somewhat resemble the likes of Call of Duty and Gears of War.

Since the game utilizes the Call of Duty engine, it makes an interesting twist as that is now tied into the James Bond universe. For long time gamers of the James Bond gaming series, this will certainly add a new flavor into your gaming experience with James Bond Quantum of Solace. Since the gaming series has been as well established as the film series itself, you can expect that it has been developed so as to live up to the standards of previous releases.

James Bond Quantum of Solace features a run-and-gun style of play. It is still built on the single-player game mechanics, knowing full well that this is a first-person shooter. Therefore, you can expect mostly single-player inspired modes that enable James Bond to fully relive his life as a secret agent. But the multiplayer mode is present in James Bond Quantum of Solace and it offers enough variety for fans to keep things fresh.

The level designs in James Bond Quantum of Solace has been infused with enough variety to ensure that you will tackle different missions and that you won't end up circling around the same area again and again. This is good news despite the fact that you will encounter a few repetitive trademarks such as the museum or trains on various levels. Your objective for completing each level in James Bond Quantum of Solace is merely to evade the enemies that have their target on you.

There are, however, quick timer events (or QTEs) that are infused into the gameplay. This is scattered all throughout James Bond Quantum of Solace and when you are engaged in such activities, you'd have to take down enemies and perform a well-timed button press for efficiency of the attack.

On top of this, there is also an infusion of stealth in James Bond Quantum of Solace, which is typical of a game that involves a secret agent as its main character. Indeed, you can proceed through a level by sneaking out and remained unnoticed by enemies. This involves having to tiptoe your way towards your next destination while the bad guys remain clueless to your whereabouts, until you spot the perfect opportunity to fire a silenced pistol. The stealth mechanic in James Bond Quantum of Solace indeed offers variety into the format of a shooter game.

But with an FPS like James Bond Quantum of Solace, you will surely be highly targeted. Therefore, a reliable cover system could mean life and death for your character in this game. This new cover system works basically the same as those used in games like Gears of War. To effectively use this cover system, you will have to duck or cover behind a nearby object by pressing a button. While in this manner, you can opt to pop out once in a while to fire back at your enemies.

With the new level of aggressiveness by the AI in James Bond Quantum of Solace, you will certainly find this cover system of big help. AI detection is distinctly sharper this time out, especially when you reach the higher and more difficult levels in the game.

Good thing is that James Bond Quantum of Solace is equipped with a regenerative health system. Meaning, when you got hit and you are in danger of running out of health, all you need to do is find some place where you are away from the enemies' line of fire. Then, you'd be able to move forward with your objective in the game. If you do manage to take down a few enemies along the way, you need to grab any items or weapons you leave behind, with a maximum of 3 weapons to pick up each time.

In the multiplayer aspect of James Bond Quantum of Solace, you have quite a few multiplayer choices. Three new modes are included in the list that offers variety and depth into multiplayer gameplay. Plus, you can earn rewards in the form of cash along the way that you can spend on upgrades or weapons.

The three new multiplayer modes for James Bond Quantum of Solace includes the following: Bond Versus, Bond Evasion, and Golden Gun mode.

In Bond Versus, two teams composed of MI6 players and a Bond will compete to take down the other team's Bond first. For Bond Evasion, all the other players will be assigned the roles of foot soldiers. Meanwhile, the Bond is located somewhere in the map, where he can afford to spare two lives. Enemies are detected by Bond through his radar.

Lastly, the Golden Gun mode in James Bond Quantum of Solace features a much looser type of gameplay. One of the various players engaged in this mode will hold possession of the golden gun. The objective now for the other players is to take that gun away from the man in possession since killing enemies using the golden gun will merit more points.

Technically speaking, James Bond Quantum of Solace closely resembles the film version. Indeed, it was a conscious effort on the part of the developers to produce richly detailed environments, especially with new areas to explore. The animation and character model is not impressive but it is able to hold its own still.

As for the sound effects, it was fairly standard and not disappointing at all. But the highlight of the entire technical feature of the game comes in the form of the voice acting and music. Over the course of playing James Bond Quantum of Solace, you will most certainly be transported into the James Bond universe you've probably encountered through the film.

As James Bond Quantum of Solace is about to hit the PlayStation 3, James Bond is definitely making an explosive comeback in the gaming scene.
