We have gathered together the best information currently available for Killzone 2 including , an article detailing all of it's main features, screenshots to show you exactly what Killzone 2 looks like, cheats for Killzone 2 and gameplay tips too.

Killzone 2 is a Sony PlayStation 3 Action Shooter game, written by Guerilla Games.

Guide to Killzone 2 on the PlayStation 3

Killzone 2 is probably one of the PlayStation 3's most prized first-person shooter title. Guerilla Games have taken their time in coming up with a game design that captures the true essence of how a shooter title should be. Killzone2 is not only graphically beautiful but some gameplay element tweaks have surely done the trick for this game. Plus, the new online multiplayer mode in Killzone 2 will certainly change the face of multiplayer gaming from here on out.

The single player campaign takes place two years after the events that unfolded in the original. Now, the fight is being taken directly to the Helghast homeworld. The ISA goal is direct: capture the Helghast leader, Emperor Visari, and bring the Helghast war machine to a halt.

You play as Sev, a battle-hardened veteran and a member of the special forces unit known as the Legion. For Sev and his squad, the invasion of Helghan is just the beginning. Tasked with securing Pyrrhus, the Capital City, the team quickly discovers that the Helghast are a formidable enemy on their home planet. Not only have they adjusted to the planet’s hostile conditions, they have also harnessed a source of power they can now use against the ISA. Sev discovers his squad isn’t just fighting enemy forces – their fiercest opponent may be the planet itself.

All of the weapons from the past game make their return here along with several new additions to the arsenal. With the variety available gamers are sure to find a favorite or two they'll look at as the "go-to" weapon of choice.

For the multiplayer, there is still a wider range of option now for KZ2. Probably the best feature about the online multiplayer in this game is that it is able to support up 32 players. The astounding multiplayer support in Killzone 2 might be able to offset the fact that it lacks the split-screen feature. Still, there is always something for your multiplayer needs, visual and gameplay-wise.

In designing the multiplayer mode for KZ2, developers wanted to coincide it with the idea of creating a multiplayer game that is accessible for newer players and yet offers enough depth for its veteran gamers. Indeed, there is more variety now with the Squad option. This option in Killzone2 enables you to divide your teammates and form squads, with at least 4 players on each squad. Then, you can access some other features like a chat channel, unlocking the squad leader's ability to spawn, and having access to your squad's badges and health.

In order to start a match in multiplayer for KZ2, you have two options: the Quick or Regular Join. For the Quick Join option, the game basically sends you out in a match against players in the same caliber as you. For your Regular Join option, you can choose matches according to one of the available maps in Killzone 2 and the different types of missions.

For creating a match, you can get started by choosing one among 8 available maps to play on. Then, decide how many players are going to compete and what kind of weapons will be used. Once you're done, you can now choose a mission to partake in and get started on your action with Killzone 2. It's that easy and yet there's so much more areas and levels to explore in Killzone2.

Another important element in Killzone 2 is player progression. You might find the various levels a real challenge and it should be exciting making your way through each one of them. You can progress through 12 military ranks, you have as much as 46 ribbons and medals to unlock, and there are over 100 player stats to access.

Progressing in Killzone 2 will certainly be exciting, what with 8 maps to choose from. Each of these maps differ in variety and size. Indeed, there are smaller maps if there are two five-man squads going head to head. The different venues such as the warehouse or underground basements will certainly infuse the element of excitement and surprise into the game. Meanwhile, for up to 32 players competing together, there are much larger maps for you to explore. It will include levels that will feature such venues as a courtyard, or any other outdoor, expansive areas.

Overall, there are about 8 maps to choose from in Killzone 2. But if that does not seem to offer much choices for you, then do wait up as Guerilla Games are still looking to develop more unique maps which is set to distributed via the PlayStation Network following the game's official launch.

The player progression system for Killzone2 have some resemblance to that of Call of Duty 4. For this system, each players are ranked and they can get new abilities as they improve on their rankings. Once they've done that, it is now possible to gather some more ribbons and medals along the way.

The badge system for Killzone 2 has been given a boost as well. You can choose from various classes of character, which include the following: engineer, medic, scout, assault, and saboteur. As soon as you begin the game, you need to unlock each of these classes of character. Then, you will get the badge's primary special ability. If you choose to continue playing with that particular class, then you'd eventually unlock that class' secondary ability.

However, that is not the highlight in Killzone2's badge system. For Killzone 2, it is now possible to merge two different classes to create one character type with primary and secondary ability. For instance, you merge into a medic engineer. However, you need to consider closely which one you choose as the primary class because it will also determine the merged class' primary and secondary ability. Indeed, this is a neat feature in KZ2, which will not only infuse more realism into the game but also adds more skills and ability into your character's arsenal.

With the new spawn mechanics in Killzone 2, it will definitely add some spice into the gameplay. Whenever you are shot in the game, a map will automatically pop out in the left side of the screen where you can scan through various respawn locales. Then, on the right side of the screen is a video on display showing you events as they happen in the game and which spawn point you are at. This will enable you to scope out exactly where you must go to so you can respawn.

Speaking of gameplay, developers are offering five types of battle, which the development team termed as dynamic missions. This will certainly serve as perfect venue to let out your aggression and partake in various missions, which include Assassination, Body Count, Capture & Hold, Search & Destroy, and Search & Retrieve.

Your achievements in this game will come in the form of a trophy, and for Killzone 2 there are lots of them that you can grab. This will be a nice way to show off your friends how far you have gone in Killzone2. Once you have completed a certain event in the game, then you can unlock that trophy at the PlayStation Network.

Guerilla Games has certainly delivered another ambitious yet impressive game with Killzone 2. There is quite a ton of new features and enhancements to boost the overall Killzone experience. The title could prove to be the best shooter to land the PS3, so mark your calendar for its February release and this could prove to be a worthy purchase.
