Guitar Hero World Tour is a Sony PlayStation 3 Party Fun game, written by Neversoft.

Guide to Guitar Hero World Tour on the PlayStation 3

Guitar Hero World Tour is the newest release from Activision who, along with Red Octane, are responsible for creating this musical genre phenomenon. When the said publishers released Guitar Hero 3: Legends of Rock, it was a record-breaking title. Aside from that, it also proved that there is a huge market out there for the music genre.

Activision is far from being done yet - they are taking this game up another notch with Guitar Hero: World Tour. In fact, they have expanded to more than just the titular instrument's domain and is now offering a more expansive musical experience for gamers.

If you ever dreamed of becoming a rock star, Guitar Hero WT lets you take a step closer towards that dream. Activision and Neversoft join forces in creating a formidable musical game in Guitar Hero World Tour that is raring to be the biggest musical title ever released, following on the footsteps of Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock.

The Instruments Of Guitar Hero: World Tour

Having the proper instruments will enable you to enjoy more tunes and create more music. Guitar Hero World Tour goes beyond just guitar and bass, instead adding drums and vocals into the formula. Extra features have been built into the new guitars to enhance the Guitar Hero experience.

If you have tried previous guitar controllers for this series, then expect some new designs incorporated for Guitar Hero WT. Since the Les Paul or X-plorer models from previous games are compatible but lack the access to all the new features, you might want to purchase this new guitar controller instead.

The neck now has a touch pad, which allows you to alter notes by simply sliding up or down this strip as you play a song. Then, the bridge of the guitar now has the back/select button. Hence, it is very accessible if you want to switch to star power. If you can see the actual guitar, it is now almost as big as the real thing. Previous features of the guitar will still be evident with Guitar Hero WT - this is bound to be the best guitar controller ever released to date.

The microphone for Guitar Hero World Tour comes with no buttons but is wired. You might want to use a controller if you want to go to the menus or change settings.

The new drum peripheral is made up of three components: three pads, two raised cymbals, and a bass pedal. Aside from having the cymbals at a raised position, it is also designed in such a way that you can readjust its positioning. When you want to switch to star power, simply hit both cymbals at once.

Comparably, the drum kit for Guitar Hero WT is not as noisy as other drum kits. However, because it has a wider diameter, it poses more challenge in terms of accuracy during the more difficult stages of the game. A great improvement with this pad set is that its sensitivity has increased according to your speed when hitting them. A slight tap or a slam would make a whole lot of difference. This feature really complements the music creator.

Customizations in Guitar Hero World Tour

For Guitar Hero World Tour, previous characters from GH 3 and 2 will be reprising their roles along with a few real-life rock stars set to make their debut in Guitar Hero WT. However, there is a new customization feature that enables you to create your own rock star. What about creating someone in your likeness? Definitely takes the whole idea of your rockstar fantasies to a whole new level.

At the start of the game, you can proceed to the character creator that enables you to customize a character's age, specific facial features, style (whether punk, goth, etc), hair color, and many more. You can even choose the clothes your character wear, and whether you want them with a tattoo or not.

This customization feature in Guitar Hero World Tour also applies to your instruments. From the shape of the instruments, to the color, and overall finish. Aside from the outward features, you can also set the string type which will definitely come in handy as soon as you start playing songs.

The Music List and Gameplay in Guitar Hero World Tour

A music game's success lies mostly in having a good track list. Guitar Hero World Tour will offer you variety and lots of choices. So far, the artists and/or songs included are Linkin Park, Van Halen, Foo Fighters, Sublime's “Santeria”, and Billy Idol's “Rebel Yell”.

The gameplay basically consists of the vertical scroll for the instruments and the horizontal bar for the words. Meanwhile, cash prizes are available after each song and are divided among each members according to how well they performed individually.

There are a total of five careers for Guitar Hero World Tour. This includes one for each instrument: bass, guitar, drums, and vocals as well as “World Tour” which, as the name implies, enable you to play different setlists around the world.

When it comes to difficulty level, the progression in this game is non-linear. You can decide to start out at the highest difficulty setting. But when you are finding it too much of a challenge for your skill, then you can always decide to drop it down where you can manage it.

Boss battles and battle mode are both present elements still in Guitar Hero WT. However, the latter's role in this new game is less pronounced. On the other hand, the new beginner difficulty will enable new gamers to get their feel of the game until their skills progress.

The Music Creator in Guitar Hero World Tour

This is one of the most exciting new additions in Guitar Hero World Tour. There are over 85 songs included in the master tracklist, putting it a step ahead of GH3 already. This in-game music store will certainly address issues that relate to the non-compatibility of DLC from GH3 with this new title.

No need to worry about the compatibility issue since the music creator is a more vibrant feature. The music creator has a wizard that helps you get started in creating your own music. Once you've chosen a premade bassline and drum loop, all you need is a tiny tweak on the tempo and you are almost there. Learn to experiment with your kits available as your option, the notes, and the various elements to produce a song of your own.

Once you are finished with a song, you can submit it to the GH tunes. After that, you can pick a cover art, specify the song's genre, and it can be available for other gamers of Guitar Hero WT to download for free.

When it comes to pricing for Guitar Hero World Tour, Activision isn't quick to reveal. With a game as hefty as this, any faithful music gamer will no doubt find it worthy!
