Call Of Juarez The Cartel is a Sony PlayStation 3 Action Shooter game, written by Techland.

Guide to Call Of Juarez The Cartel on the PlayStation 3

The Call of Juarez franchise is one of the leading western shooting games in the video game industry. But the developers of this new iteration, Call of Juarez: The Cartel for the PS3, are looking to change things up a bit. The game isn’t set in the Old West, but in modern-day Mexico that features its closest take on modern Western aesthetic. If in the past, the entries from this franchise offered an under-the-radar experience, this time out Techland (the game’s developer) is set to take it to another step.

There are three main characters in Call of Juarez: The Cartel, which are all law enforcement officials. The first one is LAPD detective Ben McCall, who has appeared in the previous entries of this franchise. The other two main characters are Eddie Guerra, who is a DEA agent, and Kim Evans, who is an FBI operative. All of these agents are traveling to Mexico after the bombing of a US government building, which was traced to be initiated by a drug cartel in Mexico. These agents are therefore traveling to the country to investigate and enforce the law. The game is indeed reminiscent of famous TV shows, such as 24, The Shield, and Sons of Anarchy. The developers admit that this is a mere “prototype” phase but they are excited to incorporate several new components to the game that the franchise hasn’t tried before.

The story gets a twist as these three law enforcement agents do not trust each other. However, this will produce the complexity in the story because each of them has their own motives and methods to achieve those goals. Because they are expected to co-operate at some point in the story, it will surely be interesting how they can work together and build tense confrontations. The main concept of Call of Juarez: The Cartel is pretty simple, however it makes for a gritty and exciting three-player co-op game.

The co-op gameplay focus on Call of Juarez: The Cartel that combines cooperation and competition playing experience. The three main characters are therefore expected to challenge their enemies and each other, whether it be killing on the first shot or who can be most accurate in their shooting skill.

A new entry into the franchise is melee combat that will surely take the action to the nitty-gritty. However, there are also various features that will be reprised in Call of Juarez: The Cartel. The Slow-Mo Concentration Mode has always been a crowd pleaser in the past and so the developers have decided to incorporate this feature into this game. It helps to build more intensity and bring focus to the action to highlight the experience.

Despite the modern setting, the Western shooting action intensity does not let up. Techland has made sure that the intensity remains high throughout the game with chaotic, all-out firefights that is very typical of a Western shooting game. Because of the modern setting used in the game, gamers can have access to advanced and modern weaponry such as assault rifles and sniper rifles. In addition, carriage rides and horses are replaced with modern high-speed chases to boost the adrenaline. The driving sections of this game are also satisfactory, which addresses the concern of gamers about how Techland can make this aspect exciting and worth playing.

The developers had promised story-based new assignments into Call of Juarez: The Cartel. Hence, gamers will have plenty of impromptu side quests to fill their time as they explore the main story, while also helping to add more variety into the playing experience. All of these assignments are in keeping with the main storyline, though, which helps to bring about unity in the story.

All of the agents are assigned with experience points throughout the action in Call of Juarez: The Cartel. You can also earn points whenever you catch any of your teammates completing side missions, and vice versa. Thus, it offers a single player aspect to this three-player shooter, especially if you want to explore your own agenda in the game. You can later use these experience points to upgrade your weapons and abilities. Hence, side missions are created more than just to add variety, but also serve its purpose in the game.

Developer Techland has promised to shed more light into its competitive multiplayer modes for the PS3. Thus, there are plenty more to look forward to for gamers who want to assess the potential of this game. One thing to be happy about: the early screenshots released for the game looked stunning more than ever. Indeed, it is obvious how the developers have invested on the visual presentation to make this game as stylish and realistic as possible.
