Brutal Legend is fundamentally an action game that will add a lot of kick to your usual action-adventure lineup on the PS3. Due to the game's insistence on raw action, it has the tendency to inject some violence but that is made light by the inclusion of several humorous element in Brutal Legend. In this game, you will take on the role of metal-obsessed Eddie Riggs, the world's best band roadie who bears a huge resemblance (or is based directly) from Hollywood funny guy Black Jack. The great thing about Brutal Legend for the PS3 is that it offers enough excitement whether you are playing in the single player campaign or you are engaging in multiplayer. This is quite surprising for those who previously thought that Brutal Legend can only be played via the single player campaign. Playing this game becomes more challenging as you need to balance out different factors during gameplay and the multiplayer experience tosses in more challenging quests or missions for you and your faction to take on.
Speaking of new missions, Brutal Legend for the PS3 has got some interesting new offerings for you to try your hands on. The Deuce is a big part of Brutal Legends' gameplay. At the earlies part of gameplay, you have a few abilities to work with on your car such as being limited to clicking the left stick so you can get a nitro boost. You can also make a quick pull of 180, if you like. At the start, it is mostly trial stage but your driving skills are important during boss battles so you need to gradually improve your skills as you go much deeper into the game. In order to prevent yourself from being devoured by the enemy, you need to find a way to dodge its attacks to force its tongue to be stuck on the ground. This is basically a simple boss fight but is uniquely placed in the game so you can test your moves in The Deuce, even at the early stage in the game. As you move further along, you can earn upgrades to make your rod a more devastating machine that could destroy your enemies.
Killmaster is another exciting new mission in Brutal Legend. In this new mission, you will be able to engage in a two-part quest in search of the Killmaster so you can heal your heavily wounded partner. Your journey will consist of navigating through treacherous mountains that are filled with hair-metal headbangers and demon bulls, among other things. Once you have completed this, you will eventually be led to the Killmaster's hideout. When you find him, he will tell you about the mystical bass guitar that he use to heal wounds. But he realizes that the string is not thick enough to be able to heal your companion's injury, so you need to embark on another quest in Brutal Legend that will take you to the metal spider queen's lair to find the string you need. Once you have completed a dungeon crawl, the spider queen will be there waiting to face you off in another boss battle. But there is also a time element to this mission in Brutal Legend since you have to work as quickly as possible to defeat the enemy and be able to bring back the strings you need to heal your wounded compatriot.
When you are not partaking in these exciting missions for Brutal Legend, the stage battles in themselves offer enough depth into your gameplay experience. These are available once you have reached deep enough into the campaign. At this point in the game, there is a distinctive layer of strategy involved that makes action much fiercer and raw. These battles will serve as the main foundation for your multiplayer experience in Brutal Legend, but matches are basically straightforward. You can choose from either one-on-one or four-on-four battles, whichever pleases you.
Since all these missions and stage battles are action-laden, it is important to delve into your character's abilities in Brutal Legend. Thankfully, Eddie Riggs has got a few tricks up on his sleeve that will enable him to cope with just about any type of enemy he'd have to face. Eddie possess the ability to spawn troops so he can use them in battle and form into different squads to whom he can send commands to. In addition to that, Eddie can also unlock various combos in Brutal Legend, which gives him more abilities to confront even the most challenging enemies in the game. He possesses a unique Earthshaker ability, which is one of the most useful around. To use this ability, you must make Eddie jump into the air and when he drops back down to the ground, it produces a devastating thud that will take down even multiple enemies easily. For enemies located at a distance, Brutal Legends offer a lock-on ability that can accurately hit enemies with a strike of the power chord guitar. But make sure to not overuse this ability since it could turn orange in color, which implies that it is overheating.
The multiplayer aspect of Brutal Legend offers the bulk of the surprises in this game. The basic layout for this one is that it is a rock concert that has spiraled into a warzone. The stage will serve as your team base wherein you need to fight over the control of the fan geysers. You need to gather as much fans by collecting as much points as you can. This will consequently enable you to build more units. Once you have built a large enough army, you are now ready to attack the enemy's base and destroy it.
