Barely surviving a plane crash, you discover an undersea city called Rapture, a failed utopia whose citizens had embraced genetic engineering before the city descended into pure anarchy. Power and greed have run amok and the city has succumbed to civil war.

We have gathered together the best information currently available for Bioshock including , an article detailing all of it's main features, reviews written by readers just like you, screenshots to show you exactly what Bioshock looks like, cheats for Bioshock and gameplay tips too.

Bioshock is a Sony PlayStation 3 Action Shooter game, written by Digital Extremes.

Guide to Bioshock on the PlayStation 3

BioShock is set to make waves as it is slated for release on the PlayStation 3. Indeed, the original FPS title was loved by fans and critics alike but the latest BioShock release will set new gaming trends. Expect to get a more visual take on this shooter game as it comes in a Blu-ray format. To get started on the action, simply install the Blu-ray disc into your hard drive and you're good to go.

Andrew Ryan was a visionary character that envisioned a Utopian society. As achieving that Utopia proved impossible with existing society, he worked on establishing his own underwater society. This is one of the major changes you can expect to see in BioShock. The city, whom Ryan called the Rapture, that saw hell breaking loose with several mutated characters is where players will be thrusted.

Jack is the central character and the first few scenes of the game features him boarding a plane. Then, the plane crashes and Jack was the lone survivor from the said crash. As he watched the plane vanish deep into the water, Jack spotted a tower in the middle of the ocean. He is then directed to swim towards that tower and get inside it. As he makes his way into the bathysphere, Jack is lead towards the depths of the tower and that is where the rest of the story picks up for BioShock.

As soon as Jack reaches the destructed underwater city of Rapture, he understands how corrupted the city has become. This encompasses not only the physical but also the psychological form of destruction. Although there are several mutated characters that roam the city in BioShock, you will have weapons at your dispersal to defend yourself.

As you study your environment, you will find a radio. You need to pick that up as it serves as your guide throughout your adventure in BioShock. More than anything, the radio will send out safety guidelines or create awareness about the dangers of the environment you're in at BioShock. Soon after, you will pick up your first weapon, in the form of a big wrench. While this does not seem to be a likely weapon for use in BioShock, it will do as you continue to pick up more weapons on the way.

The wrench, however, is quite effective as it also serves as a melee weapon. However, as you progress in BioShock, the challenges are only going to get tougher and so you need to get rid of the wrench to make room for other more favorable weapons. Also, your genetics will be transformed so that you are able to form electricity in your hands to create lightning balls and throw it at enemies. Meanwhile, the lightning power is also useful in opening up sealed walkways.

As this is a follow up to the original BioShock that fascinated gamers last year, you can expect the new BioShock game to get its own share of enhancements. The most apparent new feature is that BioShock now supports trophies, which is the first third-party PS3 title to achieve such feat. Moreover, the challenge rooms were impressive yet within the Rapture theme. This is a conscious effort on the developers' part to retain the original story that proved quite successful. However, they've also promised to introduce some more content available for download after the game's release.

Then, there is also the Survivor mode for BioShock. True to its name, this mode will have increasing the level of your game up a notch or you could end up having your butt kicked by the easiest Splicers or other enemies. And of course, the underwater city is a great major addition into BioShock. As you navigate your way through the city, a jazz song repeats on the background that is quite appropriate for setting the tone, considering the large presence of Plasmids throughout the city.

For this mode in BioShock, the mantra is “Every Bullet Counts”. While this holds true knowing that players can get only a limited amount of bullet, other times you will open chests or locks to find only a single bullet. You may be able to replenish your bullets though and end up with extras. You can return those extra bullets for replenishing your weapons, especially following heavy firefights.

When it comes to defeating horde of enemies, BioShock offers you several possibilities to do that. You can opt combining the use of your energy meter and the Wrench Jockey Tonic to easily kill Splicers on a single blow of the wrench. This hands-on approach to fighting enemies is quite effective. However, you can opt for a different approach if you do not want to risk your health or if you want to save your ammo. The use of security drones will effectively take down large group of enemies without risking your having to lose your health or ammunition.

If you find the tasks quite difficult, then wait until you move up in the game. The default difficulty setting is already quite a challenge, but there are several other difficulty level settings you can find in this game. As you step up through these various levels of challenge, you will also be able to experience maximum gaming that is true to the nature of BioShock.

You will notice that by the start of the game, using the wrench to beat up enemies will do just fine. However, as your level of difficulty progresses in BioShock, the enemies you'd have to face will also become increasingly difficult. Indeed, once you've reached the highest level of difficulty, you are in for a war and single blow using the wrench would no longer do.

On the technical side of things for BioShock, the environments are visually astonishing. It merges a gripping storyline and an art-deco visual design to create a masterpiece, something of which no other video games has previously achieved. The drawback is that you won't be able to enjoy the sights as you have to be vigilant at all times. Or else, you could wind up in disaster when your enemies caught you with your guards down. The Blu-ray format for the PS3 also creates a more powerful and high-end sound system for BioShock. The controls in this game retains the standard PS3 control scheme, to make it easier for gamers.

Apparently, there's a bunch of features and unique experience to look forward to in BioShock for the PS3. Gear up for what shapes up to be one of the biggest debut on the PS3 this year!
