Guide to Assassins Creed 3 on the PlayStation 3
The Assassin's Creed franchise on the PS3 is probably one of the biggest franchises in the industry there is. However, many felt that Ubisoft's beloved franchise has gone stale since the second installment was released as the first two focused much on Ezio's story. There is an attempt by the development team to incorporate some new twists into the story although there is a bit of a general consensus that these games were created as cash-ins and never really flourished as sequels. Hence, Ubisoft has tapped a specialized team to dedicate development work for Assassin's Creed 3 and give fans exactly what they expect from the franchise.
In Assassin's Creed 3, gamers will immerse into the role of a brand new character – Connor. He is a new ancestor who survived the American Revolution and is best known for killing foes using a tomahawk. Hence, gone are the days of Assassin's Creed wherein you had to rely on such weapons as swords or daggers in your arsenal. This time out, you will be able to get your hands on a huge array of new weapons which includes a bow and musket, to name a few.
The list of weapons within your arsenal therefore creates a huge difference in terms of the gameplay approach for Assassin's Creed 3 on the PS3. There is that element unique to Assassin's Creed 3 that is evident in this game. And yet, it is presented in a way that makes it seem refreshingly new.
The most notable difference right off the bat comes from the change in environment for PS3's Assassin's Creed 3. The latest iteration will feature the New England rural forest as its setting and it is presented quite beautifully in the game. The setting looks gorgeous with the details and vivid images used. You can really tell that the development team has invested a lot on matching realistic weather effects into the game world such as it is rendered authentically.
But if you are worried that the gameplay is compromised in an effort to develop a breathtaking new setting for Assassin's Creed 3, worry no more. The movement from one area of the environment to another, as well as the way the different objects found in the game world react to any action exerted by the hero and some other characters seem fluid and natural. Everything looks as crisp and handles very nicely.
There is one feature in Assassin's Creed 3 that can't be missed out in this review is the boating section. In here, Connor gets to go behind the wheel on a massive ship where there will take place a huge sea battle. This is an exciting part of the game as cannon fire go ablaze from every corner. This also prompts gamers to immerse into the excitement of the game world, especially when you see embers go off at every direction. This is quite a memorable part of the game as the visuals is also very excellent.
The story focuses on how Connor transformed from his youth to a warrior who is forced into protecting his land and its people right after Mohawk Valley was strewn into destruction. It is going to be an emotional ride for Connor as he also strives to fight for his belief while an iconic war is unfolding. Alex Hutchinson, creative director for the franchise has regarded Connor as Ezio's hard reversal. He is notably more quiet and earnest than the arrogant nature of the former character. It is going to be interesting how that characterization plays out in the game itself.
Ubisoft does not aim to revolutionize the franchise with Assassin's Creed 3. However, they took it as a serious challenge to transform this brand new game, set in the American Revolutionary War, as something more than just a shift in time. This explains why they have decided to spend more time in developing this brand new game to ensure fans that they can expect something special.
